Europe freeze: More deaths in Ukraine and Poland

Another 20 people in Ukraine and 9people in Poland died, adding to 80people who have already passed away due to the freezing temperature. I Serbia approximately 11,000 villagers have been cut off due to the strong blizzards and snow. This snow might seem like a usual problem for uncivilized and undeveloped places like villages, however this time it is different. More than 600 people were trapped in unheated train for overnight in Italy, Apennines, when the engines and electrical cables stopped functioning due to the freezing weather. According to weather experts in Italy said that this week is the coldest week in Italy in 27years. Recently coldest temperature has been recorded in Russia and Kazakhstan. In Siberia and Ural the temperature fell under -40C and Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital, had temperature of -52C. However the air temperature was -35C, but due to the strong and cold winds the temperature is lower. In Russia majority of the traffic was jammed because of the heavy snow. Not only in cold countries, but even in Turkey about 50cm of snow fell in the capital city, Istanbul, on Wednesday. Also many people were affected by the avalanche in the countryside.

This event clearly shows the seriousness of protection and preparation people need to have. Not many people worry about this problem since they never faced any natural disaster caused by snow. People are scared of flood, hurricane and many other disasters, however, not many are aware of the danger of the snow. Well the disaster caused by snow contains hurricane, blizzard, and also flood, heavy snow, and these are much more dangerous since it has much lower temperature. Humans cannot survive in low temperature for long period of time and especially in snow where the temperature is below 0C there is no chance of human being surviving for long time. We should prepare for this, get ready to take action when heavy snow fall and causes natural disaster.
